Day 2, Trip through the Burren

The Rain won’t hold us back. We put the Opel to good use (and little damage today) by riding up along the Galway bay, and enjoyed putting our feet on Fanore Strand. (See picture) The water was about in the low 50’s. Phil squeezed under the bars of Castle then a ride around Black Head through the Burren. We then trekked over to Bally Vaughn, where Bob lit a candle in a church in honor of his Mother’s 92nd birthday.

Then it was a drive through the Burren, where we stopped at a Newton Tower, which took us up 5 floorsof a 16th century tower which we got to crawl inside of. The rain continued to fall but we hopped in the car driving through the Burren until we came to a Celtic Ring fort and the Druid’s Table.

Stopped in Kilefanora for ice cream, then to Lisdoonvarna where we saw some nice shops. Bob purchased a tin whistle and dazzled the town folk while in the park. (See picture)

Bob makes all the major decisions for the group, while Phil is the driver. Cullen is the navigator and continues to get the group lost from time to time. Back to Doolin for our last night at the B&B. The plan for tomorrow will be to drive up to Galway and hope to doge some bad weather. The forecast for the weekend is supposed to be nice.
